ADHD Testing * Teens and Adults
Stop Wondering About ADHD. Start Getting Answers.
If focus, follow-through, or a note from school has you wondering about ADHD, testing gives you real data instead of guesswork. We offer cognitive ADHD testing in person at our Sacramento office, or online anywhere we're licensed to practice.
What Is ADHD Testing?
ADHD testing at Bubblegum & Duct Tape Psychiatry uses a digital cognitive assessment platform that adds objective, computer-based data to the evaluation process. Instead of relying on symptom checklists alone, patients complete five short, interactive tasks that measure attention, sustained attention, working memory, planning, and response inhibition cognitive skills commonly affected by ADHD.
It doesn't diagnose ADHD by itself, and neither do we treat it that way. Your provider reviews your performance report alongside a full clinical evaluation, history, and an age-appropriate behavioral questionnaire (SWAN for teens, ASRS for adults) to reach a diagnosis you can actually act on.
And that diagnosis carries real weight: this evaluation is valid for both diagnosis and treatment, meaning your provider can move forward with medication management when it's appropriate, and you can use your documentation to request school or workplace accommodations.
Could This Be ADHD?
ADHD looks different at different ages, and you don't have to be hyperactive to have it. Here's what it can look like day-to-day.
🎒 In Teens (Ages 12+)
- Homework takes far longer than it should, or never gets turned in
- Instructions need to be repeated again and again
- Constantly losing belongings, assignments, or track of time
- Big projects feel completely overwhelming to start
- A teacher or coach has mentioned focus or behavior
💼 In Adults
- Chronic procrastination, even on things that matter to you
- Losing your keys, your train of thought, or the thread of a conversation
- Missed deadlines and forgotten appointments again
- Struggling to prioritize or finish what you start
- Looking back and wondering if this explains more than you realized
Difficulty focusing doesn't automatically mean ADHD, anxiety, depression, sleep issues, and stress can look similar. A comprehensive evaluation helps you understand what's actually happening, not just confirm a guess.

Before You Book
Here are answers to some of the most common questions patients and parents ask about ADHD testing.
-
Does ADHD testing diagnose ADHD by itself?
No single test does. ADHD testing provides your provider with objective data on attention, memory, planning, and impulse control, but your Bubblegum & Duct Tape clinician always combines those results with a full clinical interview and history. For teens, this includes input from parents or teachers before reaching a diagnosis. -
Do I have to come into the Sacramento office, or can testing be done online?
Both. ADHD testing can be administered in person at our Sacramento clinic or remotely through a secure link, wherever you are. Online testing is available anywhere we're licensed to practice — currently Oregon, Washington, Montana, Arizona, and Maryland — alongside our in-person Sacramento clinic. -
Can testing results actually be used for medication decisions or accommodations?
Yes. This evaluation is valid for both diagnosis and treatment. If your provider determines medication may help, your results support that decision directly. Your diagnosis and provider report can also be used to request school accommodations, like a 504 plan or IEP, or workplace accommodations. -
What if it turns out not to be ADHD?
That's a genuinely useful outcome, too. Attention and focus difficulties can also stem from anxiety, depression, sleep problems, or stress. Our goal isn't to confirm ADHD it's to help you understand what's actually going on so we can point you toward the right next step. -
Is ADHD testing available for children under 12?
Not through this specific evaluation. ADHD testing at Bubblegum & Duct Tape Psychiatry is available for adolescents ages 12 and up and adults. If you have concerns about a younger child, give us a call and we can talk through your options.
